Etran de l'Aïr is a four-man band from Agazed, Niger, also known as ‘the gate to the Sahara’. They make danceable desert blues with hypnotising guitar solos and bumpy drum rhythms. Etran de l’Aïr had a worldwide breakthrough thanks to the Sahel Sounds label, which focuses on music from the Western African Sahel and gave us bands such as Mdou Moctar and Les Filles De Illighadad. Their debut album was The New Yorker’s best album of 2020, beating Bob Dylan and Dua Lipa along the way. In 2024 they release a new album on Sahel Sounds.
