STUK offers plenty of nooks and crannies to explore while you half-earedly follow that slow, experimental DJ set, can't take your eyes off that mesmerizing live act, or just sink deeper into the cushions the longer you keep your eyes closed.

Come hang out, wander, get lost and drift away on this Sunday - the perfect day for anything goes.

- Marie & Johannes (Matinée)

gone icon
(live)

gone icon is the moniker of the Leuven-born musician Jonas Steurs. He delivers soft and lyrical post-club ballads with emotional vocals, accompanied by piano or fingerpicking guitar.

“A lyrical safe haven, as much for the subconscious rattle as for the childlike ‘I love you’. An often gasping voice paired with slick harmonies. A deep cut starting to blossom. Expect club-esque ballads and fingerpicked inner anthems.” - gone icon

• IVM Trio
(Sebastien Forrester, Mika Oki & Apulati Bien, live)

IVM means Inner Voice Movement. This power trio consisting of Sébastien Forrester, Mika Oki and Apulati Bien, share an interest in free improvisation, sparse ambient fantasies, and brutalist club mutations. Each musician’s individual characteristics are vivid yet naturally merged: Mika Oki’s sculptural sound design meets Sébastien Forrester’s highly expressive, almost ritualistic kind of drumming and Apulati Bien’s strikingly versatile approach to production. IVM Trio transcend the limitations of what a live electronic act is supposed to embody. For their new live show, the trio will be in residence at STUK for a few days.

Sans Âge
(Arthur Chambry & Ugnė Vyliaudaitė, live)

Sans Âge reunites musicians Arthur Chambry and Ugnė Vyliaudaitė, combining violin with an assortment of handmade wind instruments & percussions for blasted rhythms, drones and drawn-out noise indulgences in ever-changing, ever-surprising configurations. Things stretch out, inhale, exhale, transcend until they eventually exhaust.

Sleepy G
(dj)

Sleepy G doesn’t do the clubs because he is too sleepy. Instead, he brings an organic selection of downtempo music for a seated or lying (sleepy?) audience. There’s some improvised jazz, impro, experimental music, ambient, groovy rhythms, guitar strums or dubby sounds.

Emma Caers x Maito
(dj)

Connected by the overlapping interest in the depths of downtempo music, Emma and Max couple their mutual musical appetite resulting in a lush and ethereal selection. Every track chosen weaves together to tell a story that lingers long after the final note. After a handful of back to backs, they’re more than stoked to share the decks again in their town of origin.

Giulia Rae
(dj)

Giulia Rae is a sound artist currently based between Turin and Brussels. Grounded in the field of creative coding, Rae’s careful touch on sonic space embraces the potential of human-machine interaction to craft otherworldly sonic environments. Researching the intersections between immersive sound, listening practices, and technologically mediated experiences, Rae was fundamentally nourished by the Italian underground electronic music scene, later expanding her path internationally after obtaining a Master's degree at the Institute of Sonology of The Hague.

• Not So Difficult
(dj)

Not So Difficult dj’s are, for this occasion, Nathan Thys and Jente Waerzeggers. Playing easy-to-digest difficult music, nostalgia that makes their Pisces hearts beat faster and anything else that would find a place in the Not So Difficult Magazine they help to create since 2021.

About Matinée

Matinée is a Brussels collective that transforms a different location every last Sunday of the month into a living room full of carpets and cushions. Throughout the day, they invite musicians, DJs, artists and chefs who bring music, give a workshop, exhibit their art or make something to eat, all to unwind together, revalue Sunday as a day of rest and offer young creators a platform. Matinée was created to offer a counterweight to all the music that is experienced in the evening and at night in the dark. They go for lightness on the last day of the week.
